James M. McDonough has practiced creditors' rights, bankruptcy, real estate, and construction law since 1990. He has litigated complex cases for corporate clients in state, federal and appellate courts. While representing credit unions, banks, and finance companies, his practice often focuses on Chapter 13, Chapter 7, and non-dischargeability bankruptcy matters, as well as judgment collection, writs of possession, foreclosure, and complicated real estate matters. Mr. McDonough, who also represents building suppliers and contractors, is well-versed in construction law, including mechanic's liens and other contractor and property owner disputes. He is experienced in transaction work including commercial and residential real estate loan closings, title insurance, loan workouts, and forbearance agreements. He is also knowledgeable regarding the Uniform Commercial Code, secured transactions, and motor vehicle title lien law.
Mr. McDonough has taught business law college classes and has conducted numerous creditors' rights and real estate seminars for the Louisville Bar Association, National Business Institute, and Lorman Legal Education.
When not practicing law, Mr. McDonough is an active Boy Scout leader for his two young sons, and is an avid college basketball fan.
